“Root Symphony” is a curious look at the underground world of life that is right beneath us. Between the molecules of soil, fungi, micro organisms, and the abundance of life there is much we depend on to grow on the other side. This paintings whimsical line work and bright colors are inspired by the works of Hundertwasser.
This painting was created in many layer of washes and finally more opaque colors on gessoed euca board with absorbent ground. In this painting there are horizontal lines suggesting fields of agriculture, while simultaneously showing the layers of soil as well as roots, growth from seeds and the micro organisms that move around them. On the other side plant life growths from beneath the tree of life. The scale of the lower growth versus the upper shows how much our life depends on the quality of our eco system.
