“Big Head” is an abstract piece about our current political climate. The head stands in what could be the middle of a strange room or an arena with other heads looking on. Satellites project their instruction into a maze or network within the head. The big head wears a suit dripping and outlandish.
This painting was created in many layers of washes and finally more opaque colors on gessoed euca board with absorbent ground. The perspective of the lines behind the figure lend scale to the enormity of the head. The bright bold colors of the piece mask the seriousness of it with a playful, comic and innocent touch. This paintings whimsical line work and bright colors are inspired by the works of Hundertwasser.
